The Inspectors' View on the Bank's Values
Inspectors look at the bank very holistically there are certain things that immediately concern them. They recognize the problems with receiving gratuities and tips from the public but they also recognize the embeddedness of those sorts of practices in 18th century society. Their final conclusion though is a really interesting one whereas today I think bankers are really hesitant about talking openly about how they value themselves or what they offer to the public. And that I suppose explains the virtuous bankers title of your book.
