The US's Investment in Niger's Military Junta
The US has a drone air base in Agadès, the fifth largest city in Niger. It's a strategic position for Western armies troops who want to kind of take up defensive positions against jihadist expansion. But again, it also has lots of natural resources. There's also obviously the colonial relationship between Niger and France,. So there is still those ties but that also works in the reverse where people feel a lot of anti-French sentiment.
