The thing that was great about travelers checks back in the 80s is you could buy $1,000 denomination travelers checks and but you usually had to special order them. If you were trying to do that today, I think you'd have treasury agents at your door pretty quickly just for that kind of churn. Some of the stuff is I believe there was a recent court case that said some of the stuff can be taxable,. But they didn't really define very well what can be taxed, which of the benefits can be taxed. And then also some of the credit card companies are like clawing back the points. So you have to be aware of that also.
