In the early eighties, engineers couldn't believe it. Compressors and gates on every channel was such a thing in the worlds dices recording gates aren't thing that you turn to. But for us, gates and expanders were actually quite useful. Albmy worked with producers like nick lorney, who did cate bush's dreaming album and a public image flowers of romance. We were totally pushing the esss hell sond. On those records, you had the ability to go to extremes with every channel. With a broad stroke, you'd paint sound on the desk. You couldn't be that adventureus if you were working on a helios or a neve.
