Lucy harris was something of a virago who wanted to see the plates, and then turned against joseph smith. So it's hard to know exactly what kind of a character lucy harriws was, but i think it would be quite reasonable for her to be concerned that JOSEPH SMITH was trying to swindle martin. And why money digging was illegal, it's not because they thought people would steal anything. It was because they thought the people in charge of these money expeditions were trying to can the people who were going out on them.
