There are hints within the text that shakespeare knew what he was on about and kept up with current theories. There is a debate outside the king's chamber as to the merits of the two theories of medicine at the time. He would have seen, although itwas that most people w ted at home. Most people died at home. So they would have understood yo taking medicine often made you sicker. It certainly didn't make you feel good, hem. And he uses wonderful phrases like thro physic to the dogs, which is a wonderful phrase and probably sound advice for the time.
