Pixaban vs. Coumadin: What Is the Difference?

The apixaban arm had 20 events per patient year versus 6 in the warfarin group. That was a difference of 2.9%. So they definitely didn't meet that margin for non-inferiority. And even if they had gone to 990 patients, there was no statistical way they could get there. The take home message is that we're not going to be using doax in mechanical valves.
