The Role of Knowledge in Predicting Things
Social epidemiology is about focusing on the most approximate risk to the outcome, right? And then once you do move upstream, you start to see that the risks that put people at risk of lots of stuff are basically the same. But I think we need to start like there's a role for sort of left wing empirical science to kind of push push the field in that direction and not just let the neoliberal carceral economists have monopoly on quantitative tools.
