Apollo 11

A great example of this is Apollo 11. When they did the burn on Eagle to go to land on the moon, they started on the far side of the moon. It's a half an orbit to get to land. And they had mapped out all of the landmarks and exactly when they would pass them in order to know if they were going to land where they expected to land. So this is very carefully calculated with relatively limited technology, 1960s technology.
