Britain is an interesting case, isn't it? Because britain, unlike most of the western empire, there's a pretty obvious transition from being part of an imperial entity. Does that feel significant? Again, i suppose it depends on your perspective. If you ware a local landowner, the disappearance of the apparatus of the roman state might not make an awful lot of difference to how you go about your day-to-day business.
