Is the Current System Designing to Force Us Into Certain Tracts?

Our current system is designed to force us into certain tracts, especially people who are intelligent and hyper educated. And i haven't gone through these types of processes very often because of that. So i'm curious as to what you see as the reasons forcing us into these tracts. How does this differ in the network age where we have access to new type of technology will actually unbundle this set of experiences open to us?
