Modernity: The Church's Response to Modernity Down Through History
Vatican I and Vatican II are all the churches' responses to modernity down through history, beginning with the Reformation. Modernity refers to a major turn in the way human beings thought about knowing. The whole tradition of Aristotle and Thomas was that to know the truth meant there was a correspondence between the mind, the human mind, and the reality out there.
