The Consequences of PSA Testing
There is a little controversy on whether PSA testing reduces mortality from prostate cancer, maybe one in 1000 or maybe zero in 1000. In total mortality and in total cancer mortality, there is no evidence or there is any difference. Many doctors we have studied don't know the medical evidence. About 20 of every 100 men suffer from taking the tests either by having false positive and unnecessary biases and being treated unnecessarily. The US Preventive Services Task Force recommends a gained routine prostate cancer screening.
