The Rise and Fall of Tolkien

The Twilight Zone was a big one for me wasn't in 1977 Philip Coughman's remake these are a number of the things that were foundational to me. Tolkien today is very much ingrained in the mainstream he's just entrenched in our kind of fantasy with Seamus Kliche we need to transcend Tolkien and all that. Lord of the Rings was received at the time it was a counterculture book I remember reading an essay by Erwily and Rowan Thompson describing how he met this hippie who was saying Middle Earth was actually part of the kind of like spiritual history at least of the world.
