Joel Selwood and Tommy Hawkins' Story
Joel Selwood was told he would be a leader by his peers. Tom Hawkins ate six banana muffins in the space of an interview with him. The first time Joel played for Melbourne, it was against the Bulldogs. It's one of my favourite bits of footy now when you see the kid being told unaware is by the coach and they're going to play their first game. Matty Stokes got suspended throughout the Knob Cup series back then. They needed a quick little sneaky forward to fill the role. And that wasn't me. So where did they go? No, they come to me. Kenny Hinckley gave me good relationship straight away. Like two great coaches
