The Conundrum of Progress in the AI Space
checkpoint.com was hit by a denial of service attack, which could have been carried out by an adversary group based in Iran. Checkpoint said that this had nothing to do with their equipment and their software. UK intelligence agencies proposed weakening safeguards that limit training of AI models with bulk personal data sets. Privacy experts state that weakening safeguards would unwind some of the legal protections introduced in 2016 after Edward Snowden disclosures.
