The Transition From Drugs to a Threat to Civilization
When we're talking about drugs, this is the this is the newly minted term in the early 20th century. And so drugs have medical problems associated with them but I think they also have larger existential problems. There's a strong racialized sense that you know a civilized society in the 20th century is just not going to be sustainable until we get rid of all these these these drugs that are a drag on it. You know, how can you really have a society when everybody's individual experience is so different?
