The Evolution of Woolly Mammoth Genome Engineering

The technology as it exists is based on some work that George Church at the V since Tooted Harvard has done. The idea is to harvest genomes from woolly mammoths, then take those fragments of genetic material and copy them in such a way that you can get pretty close to an entire genome of an extinct woolly mammoth. But even once you do that, let's say you have an entire Woolly Mammoth genome, then you need to perform interspecies somatic cell nuclear transfer with living species. Then you would need to convince that egg to divide before you could implant it into a surrogate. And woolly elephants are way bigger than elephants.
