The Importance of Ball Size in Cricket
The MCC laws say that a ball cannot weigh less than 155.9 grams. So it can weigh less for women's matches. The ball there can be 142 grams. And that's not because it's too heavy for a tiny ladies to throw down the other end. But it's because it makes the size a little bit smaller. Where there is actually an issue with hand size and finger size, particularly for spinners, you can impart more, get more purchase on the ball to try to spin it.
