The Source of the Nile
A group of explorers set out to find the source of the Nile in Africa. They thought they had found it at Lake Tankinika, but were told there was another even larger lake further north. The expedition stopped halfway through when they heard about this other huge lake and decided to circumnavigate it. When Burton got sick with a fever, he asked his friend speak if he could join him on the trip back to England. He says yes; then speaks goes back for more funds so thatBurton can see what he's talking about. It is now known as Lake Victoria - the primary source of the River Nile.
