The Importance of Industrial Policy
Industrial policy refers to the state giving subsidies and funding to specific corporations in order to pursue specific economic objectives. Despite writing about China somehow turning everyone into a narco-capitalist state subsidies are as old as capitalism itself, writes Andrew Keen. American corn and other agricultural subsidies are one of the largest and most expensive industrial policy regimes in the world, constituting half a trillion dollars spent since 1955.
