The Future of Emissions Trading

Emissions trading, commonly called cap and trade, is already being used all over the world to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. A cap and trade program on sulfur dioxide managed to slash annual emissions from 26 million tons to 5 million tons in just 20 years. Right now, the US is one of the only major countries that doesn't have a national cap andtrade program for greenhouse gases. The US is also one of theonly countries in the world that doesn't already have a nationwide tax on carbon emissions.
