In real markets, trends appear more frequently and persist the longer than the laws of chance allow. When you display data in the right way, a child can pick the odd one out every time. And it's because so called six-sigma deviations from the mean can't really occur more than once a few light years. Real markets have these long-fat tails, which of course the random walk guys think, wow, that's a flute that time. But actually, there's so frequent in real markets that they're not a random walk.
