The Sahaba and the Vultures

Qab ibn Zaid was wounded in the Battle of Khondak. Al-Munzid, Amr and Muhammed were on an errand when they saw vultures circling their camp. They discussed what to do; should they kill themselves or go back to the Prophet? Qab said he would not give up his position as a storyteller while others got martyrdom. He died two years later from injuries sustained during battle.
