The League of Nations Is Dead, Long Live the United Nations
The League of Nations failed to prevent the Second World War, but it did lay the foundation for the United Nations. Robert Cecil was one of the organization's architects along with Woodrow Wilson. In 1946 he addressed the Assembly and said "the great work of peace is resting on those great principles of right and wrong"
