The forest has been in existence as a forest since the end of the ice age, you know. It wasn't industrially logged until world war won. But i also think the forest is never inert backdrop. It is always acting on people too. The bark beetle outbreaks cause a strong reaction by foresters who want to then attack the akbeetle.
