Do We Really Know What Causes a Tick?

A tick is a repetitive movement where you make a semi-purpose-fool movement such as blinking or head movements. About 1 in 20 boys will have ticks at some stage in their life, and Tourette's about 1 in 200. So that puts it at a similar frequency to epilepsy and things like diabetes. Not as common as autism, not as common as obsessive-compulsive disorder but still pretty common.
