What Is the Story of the Sailing?
Remains of a man were discovered on the lower decks alongside carpenters tools. It was common practice to have ship's carpenter prepared to block up any potential holes caused by enemy hits. Could this man have been launching into action under emergency circumstances in the heat of battle? We also know that the cook had spent quite a bit of time and effort lifting his firewood from the bottom of the hold up, possibly to keep it dry. So there were things going on at the point where she finally sank.
