Why Is English So Imprecise?

In my native language, english, i have two words, aunt and uncle. And these refer to peoplesiblings of my parents. In the language that i work on in louse, the language is called cree, there are eight different words for aunts and uncles. Why not have a word for those relationships so that you don't have to explain it when people say, oh, did you mean your mother sister or your father's sister? Wouldn't that save a lot of extra explanation? I think that's probably a too strong claim.
