The Role of Merchants in the Globalization of the World
Merchants were the only bridge between england and the world. So they directed and controlled the way that it was globalized. Merchants built the royal exchange in london, which became a global market place. That completely changed the way that people could respond to the world and engage with it. They had access to these items. They were able to gossip and meet with people who had travelled across the world within this very small location. It radically altered the way in which they understood themselves but also the way that they understood the world in which they were part.
