In 2009, mass protests erupted after Abhinin Najad defeated Mir Hussein Musavi for the presidency in what both protesters and Musavi alleged was a fraudulent vote. Like Raf Sanjani, though, Musavi seems like an odd fit for the reformist lane given that he served as prime minister throughout much of the 1980s.
