Is There a Difference Between a Missing Person and a Runaway?
i think we may have to spearhead a campaign to get rid of the word missing. Terminology is so important, as we see, and labelling things properly. One in six runaways are most likely to be trafficked. Black and brown children in particular are far more vulnerable.
Today we analyze the cases of 21 year old Keeshae Jacobs who disappeared in 2016 from Richmond, VA and 16 year old Amaria Hall who went missing in 2019 from Trenton, MI. Neither mother of either girl was able to get law enforcement to react with urgency about their daughters. Jim talks about the terrible consequences of the "wait and see" attitude when it comes to the missing. Laura points out how important it is for law enforcement to examine baseline behavior in victims and identify red flags.
