The Evolution of Presidential Communication From Washington to Trump

In the 1950s, presidents in their state of the union address changed the way they were addressing their message. They shifted away from speaking to the Senate and the House of Representatives quite formally started using more popular terms just in the very introduction of the annual message. That does of course go against the claim that Woodrow Wilson changed everything in broke precedent because there's what a 40-plus year gap between the supposed event and the rhetoric.
