The Great Flood occurred during the reign of three Chinese emperors. The waters of both the Yangtze and Yellow Rivers began to unpredictably flood with devastating effect. Emperor Yao consulted with his four chief advisors, known as the Four Mountains,. They recommended appointing someone in charge of dealing with this problem altogether.
