Tithe disputes are court cases that were generated by disagreements between people who are subject to the tithe. The ecclesiastical tax was levied on agricultural production in europe. So you can look in writings of literate individuals to see what they have to say about who's growing these things. Cook books, too, early modern cook books can give you some insight into these things because sometimes when they mention potatoes, it's a little tricky - is this potato an apple? Is its he sycleman? But descriptions will describe how this new food is being grown in every peasant garden so it's very common.
