People assume that the SES was a fighting unit, but it wasn't. The navigator Mike Sadler did quite a lot of fighting and had an incredibly important role to play in Operation Helmsworth. Michael Fraser McCluskey parachuted into France with other members of the SES on to Operation Heltsworth. He caught in the upper branch of a tree and basically then fell 40 feet down to the bottom of the tree after being knocked out by his parachute.
