What Happened to the PC in the Nineties?

The original pc had one outward facing socket on the mother board. Everything else you had to do with expansion cards. You wanted a mouse, you had to buy a serial card that was originally designed for a printer or a modam and plug the mouse into that. That's an example of a standard that was designed for ne thing. So because of the way the piece industry developed, that business of physically plugging things directly into the mother board was the hardest thing to change.
