How to Get a Publisher to Use Your Design for Your Book
I saw some of the early editions that the publisher was putting out and it was just, they were terrible. I had the idea, even on my first book, I wanted to do my own cover. So I worked with this designer and the designer came up with what I thought was this amazing cover. And the publisher hated it. They were like, this is awful. We'll never use this. But at the end of the day, publishers are in the business of trying to sell lots of books. And if you bring the best cover to the table and you can back that with data, I tested the covers to see what smart people thought was best and mine ended up winning out.
