Up to this point, all adam and eve had ever known is that god loved them. And the first challenge here of the serpent is, he doesn't actually love you. The very next line tells us everything that we need to know about our vision of god. We hear god's anger, his wrath, in a voice that's like, who told you that you were naked? You know, kind of a thing.
