The Importance of Conceptual Approaches in Science, Medicine and Technology
The subject of this book is space and time, as it were by themselves. And one thing that's not directly material and visible and manipulable are space and time themselves. So we only ever have this mediated access to it because we only draw inferences about space and time from the visible appearance of material objects. It almost makes you think that it might be possible to write an entire textbook or introduction based just on material instruments.
