The Benefits of Exercise Post Bariatric Surgery
Exercising prevented a loss of about one kilo of fat free mass, which is again a relatively small benefit compared to the amount of weight being lost. There's a lower risk of weight regain in these folks who are exercising. They also had greater bone mineral density and a pretty significant increase in strength about 12 to 36%. So we're not saying that exercise is bad. It's just that in the context of large amounts of weight loss, I just don't think you're going to move the needle outside of that sort of 25%, 20 to 30% range.
