The Stanford prison experiment is being re-examined. The lead professor was an activist and didn't believe there should be any prisons. He pursued a kid named Jaffe that did an experiment like that in his dorm, like with some friends. And then said, hey, I want you to do it exactly like that. We're going to call it an experiment, except that you've got to make sure these guards understand that this is for the good of humanity. So they need to be tough. They were constantly reinforced in being horrible because this was for thegood of humanity. It's really a crazy story. Very pertinent to today.
