Is Artificial Intelligence Conscious?
I think we are all on the vert already of making machines which are cognitively conscious it's a very good trick in terms of designing an information processing brain. I'm sure that the engineers not necessarily copying the natural selection and evolution nonetheless will come to that idea of having a global workspace where ideas can be observed by an inner self. It's conceivable that engineers will decide to take a leaf from nature's book and to introduce sentience as a way for moving them to this new and more intelligent world. Whether we would want to do that for machines would depend what purpose would be most of the of the jobs which we give machines to do wouldn't be helped at all by making them sentient.
