Transhumanism
Transhumanism was coined by julian huxley, 19 57. The term technology didn't have a whole lot of usage until in the fifties and sixties. Huxley had come to articulate this idea that technology is used to dull human instinct. He's talking about machines that would allow one tono see across the planet. It really has this sort of internet feel to it when you read the passages.
