Colin Beatty's Arrest in the Scottish National Party
Colin Beatty is Treasurer of the Scottish National Party. He was arrested this morning by police investigating party's finances. Police Scotland have been looking into his bank accounts for a couple of years. The SMP raised around 667,000 pounds through appeals between 2017 and 2020. It pledged to spend those funds on an independence campaign. But at the end of 2019, the party's accounts showed there were just under 97,000 pounds in the bank. Peter Murl, who is married to Nicholas Sturgeon, had lent the party around 107,000 pounds of his own money. That was in June 2021. So we don't know exactly what the police are looking into, but we do know
