The Windrush and the Black History of Britain

Hannah Cuzworth is a historian specializing in black British histories. She's currently studying for her PhD looking at Mahogany, race and the 18th century world. Hannah: I think it would be wrong to deny that people coming from the Caribbean, but also from India, what's now Bangladesh, Pakistan, did change communities. There was a much longer kind of history of Black presence in Britain prior to 1948 - when the Windrush arrived.
