The Importance of Writing Icons

An icon isn't necessarily just an art piece. It's a venerative window, a tool for own spiritual development. There's a concept in Buddhism that I've always thought, orthodoxy and our theology of iconography only allows this concept really in Christianity. And it means that when they paint little things of the Buddha, the Buddha can also see them. This is part of the church. Can you speak to why we say we write icons and not draw icons? Sure.
