The Comanche's Reservation
In 1867, the US government adopted what was called the peace policy toward the Native Americans of the Western Plains. The policy was created by President Grant and his Quaker advisors who believed Native Americans needed to be protected from white settlers. A third of the Comanche bands were not represented at the talks because they saw reservations as the end of their existence.
