The Rise and Fall of Cryptocurrency

The US Department of Justice has alleged Russian nationals Alexi Billiochenko and Alexander Werner were behind the 2014 Mount Gox Hack. The two allegedly gained unauthorized access to Mount Gox wallets around September 2011. They would then go on to steal some 647,000 BTC over the course of nearly three years. Those funds were then allegedly laundered, in part with the help of an unnamed New York exchange.
