The Mortal Kombat Ransomware
Cisco Talos researchers have been observing an unidentified financially motivated threat actor deploying two new malware types, one entitled Mortal Kombat with a K and a go variant of the lackless Clipper. The threat actor is scanning the internet for systems with an exposed remote desktop protocol port 3389. A process flow diagram shows the initial attack starting with a phishing email with a malicious attachment that runs a bash file on Windows.
